Our Program

Seed & Sprout(1)_edited.png

We are an outdoor school for ages 3-5 year olds based in play-based learning, arts and justice focused engagement. We have commitment to care for ourselves, the Land, and each other. Our school is based out of Camp Long in West Seattle. We offer low ratios, and work to be affordable and accessible.  Seed and Sprout will work hard to be a welcoming space to Delridge’s historical diversity and welcoming and affirming space to fellow neurodiverse, disabled, and/or LQBTIA* community.

We take COVID-19 and community care seriously and  Staff wear masks N95 and higher.

Mission

Our mission is to provide a high-quality preschool program to support children in the community by fostering the development of the whole child. Our goal is to foster a space where we learn to become responsible, thoughtful and contributing members of a group while also engaging in learning processes in the community of humans in relationship with our our multi-Being worlds around us.

Our Approach

At Seed & Sprout, we believe that children are innately curious and motivated to learn, connect, and create.
In our program, we notice what each child and group’s inherent skills and passions are, and to provide ways for children to explore and grow. We are determined to understand each unique individual and work to meet their needs, skills, interests, and motivations.

Our program and curriculum is focused on the development of the whole child, and includes support of the social and emotional capabilities to engage with their peers, teachers, and groups.
We also track students’ developmental skills, and follow the child(ren)’s developmental skills over time looking at social and emotional, cognitive, literacy, mathematics, language, and physical skills.

We actively acknowledge the child as an essential member of our classroom group, incorporating a child-centered, play and arts-based learning and exploration, and an accessible and meaningful focus when working with young children.
